Amara’s Adventures on the Road: A Journey Through St. Augustine and Beyond

In our last post, we shared the excitement of Amara’s very first stop at Kids Safe Zone (👉 read about Stop One here). That special day set the tone for what would become a heartwarming journey across Northeast Florida, where Nola D Oracle brought Amara’s Adventures directly to children and families.

The mission? To spark curiosity, nurture literacy, and remind every child that their voice and story matters. Here’s a look at the next three stops — each one unique, but all united by the power of storytelling.

Stop One: St. Augustine Youth Services 💛

Our adventure continued with the incredible kids at St. Augustine Youth Services, where Nola donated books, led a lively storytime, and shared a literacy bundle that left the room buzzing with excitement.
To make the day extra special, the children created bracelets after the reading — a hands-on way to carry a piece of the story with them. Although we placed hearts over their faces in the photos to protect their privacy, their joy was unmistakable. Smiles, laughter, and the sparkle of creativity filled the room, proving that books can bring comfort, inspiration, and a sense of belonging.

Stop Two: A Touch of Funk Market

Next, Amara’s voice echoed across the community at the Touch of Funk Market. Families paused from shopping to gather around as Nola read aloud from Amara’s Adventures and gifted literacy bundles for them to take home.
The market was a powerful reminder that literacy doesn’t belong to classrooms or libraries alone — it thrives wherever people come together. Watching parents and children lean in close during the reading was proof that stories bridge generations.

Stop Three: Betty Griffin Center 🌸

The final stop on this leg of the journey brought Amara to the Betty Griffin Center, a shelter providing critical support to families during vulnerable times. Out of respect for the children’s privacy, we didn’t capture photos — but the impact of the visit was unforgettable.
The kids loved the story. Their families joined in, making it a shared moment of connection and joy. Many asked Nola to return soon — a clear sign of how meaningful it was to pause, listen, and let stories bring comfort, hope, and togetherness in a safe space.

Why These Stops Matter

From Kids Safe Zone to St. Augustine Youth Services, a bustling marketplace, and finally a family shelter, Amara is showing that her adventures belong everywhere. Whether through crafts, literacy bundles, or simple storytime, these visits remind us that books do more than entertain — they build community.
